Iraq officials: Bomber kills 15 north of Baghdad

BAGHDAD (AP) ? Iraqi officials say a suicide bomber who walked into a Shiite mosque in northern Baghdad has killed 15 worshippers and wounded 32.

The attack happened on Friday night during prayers in Baghdad's Kiraiyat neighborhood.

A police officer and a medical official both confirmed the casualties. Both spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to talk to the media.

A car bombing earlier in the day killed four civilians and wounded six north of the Iraqi capital.

Since December, members of Iraq's Sunni minority have been staging demonstrations over what they call second-class treatment by the Shiite-led government. In some places, clashes erupted between security forces and protesters.

The deadliest incident was in the northern town of Hawija in April, where 23 people were killed.

Texas Department of Transportation Tells Playboy Its Bunny Sculpture Has to Go

The Texas Department of Transportation told Playboy it has 45 days to take down a 40-foot neon sculpture of the magazine?s bunny logo from the side of U.S. Highway 90 in Marfa, Texas.

Marfa is a known hub for artists in the Lone Star State. According to Marfa resident Lineaus Lorette, the bunny is not a piece of art. Rather the iconic logo is an advertisement, which requires a permit.

"I thought it was a sign - a corporate logo. And in Texas you can't put up signs without permits," Lorette tole the El Paso Times. "I checked and it didn't have a permit so I filed a complaint."

According to Lorette, other residents resent the fact that Playboy used their town for marketing purposes.

"I was really ambivalent. It's a beautifully made sign," Lorette said. "The problem is that it's a sign. The rules have to apply to everybody."

The sign is part of an art display that includes a 1972 Dodge Charger atop a concrete platform. It was designed by contemporary artist Richard Phillips and Playboy?s creative director of special projects Neville Wakefield.

"The agency has ordered the property owner to remove this sign because the owner does not have a Texas License for Outdoor Advertising and a specific permit application for the sign was not submitted," said Veronica Beyer, TxDOT's director of media relations in Austin. "Furthermore, the location at which the sign has been placed does not qualify for a permit."

Playboy says the art display, called ?Playboy Marfa,? doesn?t violate any laws, but it will try to appease the TxDOT.

The firm representing Playboy, PR Consulting, said that they do not consider that "the art installation by Richard Phillips violates any laws, rules or regulations. Our legal counsel is currently looking into this matter and we hope to resolve this issue satisfactorily and as quickly as possible."

Judge OKs defamation ruling vs. Pa. beauty queen

NEW YORK (AP) ? A federal judge in New York has upheld an arbitrator's ruling that a Pennsylvania beauty queen must pay the Miss USA pageant $5 million for defaming Donald Trump's pageant organization.

Sheena Monnin resigned as Miss Pennsylvania last year, saying the Miss USA contest was rigged. She claimed another contestant learned the names of the top five finishers hours before the show was broadcast. Monnin said she decided to turn in her crown as soon as those same contestants were named during the show.

She posted a series of messages on Facebook and spoke publicly about her claims. Trump's Miss Universe Organization sued Monnin for defamation and an arbitrator ruled against her in December. The arbitrator said Monnin's allegations cost the pageant a $5 million fee from a potential 2013 sponsor.

Earlier this week, U.S. District Court Judge J. Paul Oetken upheld the arbitrator's decision. Monnin had sought to have it overturned based on three grounds: the arbitrator overstepped his authority, his decision disregarded law, and she didn't know the arbitration hearing was taking place. The judge disagreed.

Monnin, of Cranberry, Pa., said in a Facebook post Thursday evening that she is glad the truth is out there, regardless of the outcome.

"This is not about me being a 'sore loser' or wanting my '15 minutes of fame'" she wrote. "This is about the MUO's admission under oath that they manipulate the judges' results to suit their own ends. This is not what they advertise to the public."

Pageant organizers claimed Monnin resigned because she disagreed with a decision to allow transgender contestants. They made public text from an email they said Monnin sent citing the decision to allow natural-born males into the competition as the reason for her resignation. A transgender contestant was initially denied entry to the Miss Universe Canada pageant because she wasn't born female, but Trump overruled that decision.

Olivia Culpo of Rhode Island won the Miss USA pageant that year.

Monnin wrote on Facebook page that her legal fees amount to more than $50,000 and she needed financial support, including a link for donations.

Trump's lawyer said he applauded the judge's decision but was surprised Monnin stood by her story.

"I'm shocked to see that she has yet to learn her lesson. I thought she would be smarter the second time around," attorney Michael Cohen said.
