The Google ecosystem got a fresh boost when Android Market was rebranded to Google Play. More than just a place to buy apps, Google wants to make the Play Store as the ultimate entertainment hub, with music, magazines, books, TV shows, and movies all available for purchase. While the diverse selection of content was initially available only for U.S. customers, more countries are steadily being included.
Following the introduction of Google Play movies in the UK, Canada, France, Australia, Spain and Japan (as listed on its website) ? now folks in Germany can get their movies fix on Google Play.
The news was announced on the store?s Google Plus account and it has apparently gone live since yesterday. Blockbuster movies that German folks can download include Verblendung and Hugo. Based on the responses, it seems the movies are all dubbed to German and there?s no multi-language option. If you?re an expat based in Germany and want to rent or buy the movies, better brush up your Deutsch skills.
They don?t have the widest selection of new movies for now, but that?s a given and we expect more titles to be added. ?Movies in SD quality cost 3 euros to rent, while HD movies will set you back 4 euros. Once you press play, you have 48 hours to complete the movie.
