Job Description:

? Provide design, development, deployment, problem identification and remediation, and on-going support of communication networks and products used by the railroad industry.
? Assist in developing cost estimates; performing site surveys; implementing and managing voice, video and data communications plans, project implementation plans and schedules for existing projects or proposals.
? Able to communicate advanced technical concepts clearly, and work closely with system stakeholders, executive management and technical peers, to ensure compliance with communication system design requirements.
? Working knowledge of data transmission networks both in wired and wireless environments. Experience working with data networks, routers, encryption devices, and/or IP protocols and related technologies.

? Bachelor?s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field with a concentration on Communications Systems or RF / Microwave Analysis
? Minimum 3 years experience development and design of radios and/or antennas
? Minimum of one year of experience with software communications protocols and electrical communications interfaces
? Experience in RF Network Design
? Experience in Propagation Analysis
? Experience conducting RF Communication surveys

The following background and knowledge is required to ensure successful radio coverage testing:
A. Mobile Radio Operations ??? requires a basic understanding of how mobile radios communicate through a stationary base station to a master control site (dispatch). The test vehicle will be equipped with several mobile radios which test personnel shall be required to understand and operate with minimal training.
B. Software/Data Communications ??? requires a basic understanding of serial communications data as the data streams into a typical laptop computer. Special test software will be used and orientation training for the use of the test software shall be provided to the test personnel.
C. GIS Data ??? requires the test personnel to have a basic understanding of GPS data as it pertains to interfacing with the test equipment and test computers. Personnel must also be able to use navigational skills when using GPS devices and standard road maps to successfully navigate the test vehicle through the required test areas.
D. Test data shall be documented using the Microsoft Office suite of software. The raw data may also be stored on a media storage device determined by the onsite test supervisor.
E.Test Execution ? the following information details the test execution.
?- RF Drive Test Setup
?- Verify that there are an adequate number of power outlets (AC & DC) for each device that will be used for testing.
?- Verify that each radio is configured as per the test cut sheets that will be provided for the appropriate radio base station.
?- Execute the RF Drive Test
?- Complete the daily test log that will be provided.
